The Demo is here. If you weren't sure about getting this game, the demo is now up on marketplace. I've heard the game is set to be released Feb. 19 so be ready.
Introductions:
The marine seems to be pretty powerfull, you have a motion detector that pings when enemies get close. You start off with the assault rifle which is one of the best weapons to have and you also get a pistol. You constantly need to be on alert as the predator and aliens are all stealth relient and are extremely fast. Even though the demo is deathmatch only I have entered into a room with three friends and we all chose the marines and worked together to take down the the other players who were playing as predators and aliens. I think when team deathmatch arrives, the simple strategy of strength in numbers will work well with the marines. Also as you play in the map you can pick up other guns such as the flamethrower, smart gun/minigun which locks on automatically to targets, and then there is the bolt action rifle. as well as health that can be picked up and injected by pressing the "Y" button.
The predator has invisibility and some mighty viscious blades. It is by far the hardest to kill as they are fast well armored and regenerate health. Stealth is the key to success and I think working solo is also best suited for the character. You start off with blades and you can pick up the shoulder mounted laser as well as a throwing disc or a spear gun. As I've said though stealth is key and although the predator is invisible flickers of static can be seen outlining the predator. But when a good stealth kill is accomplished which involves sneaking up behind an enemy and then pressing "X"; if the enemy is a human the predator may pick him up and stab him through the chest or rip the human's skull and spinal chord straight out of the body in the most bloody and gruesome way, this is only rivaled in gore by Condemned if you ask me; there are also finishing moves that involve the alien in which the predator either stabs the alien or rips the tongue out and then finishes them. And need I say, there is thermal vision as well as a special vision mode to see aliens when you are the predator; which the player can switch back and forth through on demand.
Finally
the alien. I also did the same thing with the alien as the marine, where I went into a match with my three friends and we teamed up on everyone else. I think the strategy of strength in numbers would also apply however as stealth is also necessary a well adapted player will likely go solo as the alien. On thing that must really be noted, playing as the alien, is truely alien when it comes to FPS games. The player may be playing the same map but unlike the predator or marine the alien has full access to every portion of the map, thats right you can crawl on all the walls and ceillings making for some wild action. The only real weapons an alien has though are its claws and tail which are accessed by two different buttons. You can also do a lunge attack with another button, which launches the player full force at any enemy you lock onto. You also have a button that makes the alien hiss, which isn't exactly a weapon; although it is, if you are a noob or the least bit sqeumish you can hear an alien hiss from any part of the map and it will freak you out especially since the map is in the dark. Another perk to the alien is when you die you leave an acid blood spot that hurts marines and predators. Finally as I said stealth is objective to the alien and just like the predator you can sneak up behind an enemy and perform a nice finishing move, which involves either biteing a head off or sqewering you're enemies with your tail as for killing another alien, there is a move in which you smack an alien's head clean off with your tail.
Well, thats all for now. It sure is an exciting game just as the demo. I can only imagine what other surprises await in the full game.
